Reuben
I adopted Reuben from CLB in December 2022, after the passing of my best friend Bronson (18 years old, big tabby). I spoke with Sheryl and the CLB team about adopting someone that was unlikely to be adopted, or had been in the shelter for a long time.
Reuben was a stray for 10 years before being caught by CLB. He had badly rotten canines (which all had to be removed) and FIV.
He was very sweet when I met him, and loved pats. When I first got him home, he was very shy and nervous, and scared to go to many parts of the house. But he would just lie on the carpet and purr, rolling from side to side.
Fast forward, nearly two years on, with a whole house between him and his housemate Pippin (9, F, also a rescue) he is the happiest cat I have ever met. Purrs when you chat with him. Cuddles everyone, everything, and is the sweetest boy. His fur has grown longer and silkier than before and has learned to play and be silly. It is like he is aging in reverse...
He enjoys naps in the sun and sleeping on a King-sized bed every night.
