Nessie

A happy ending...

Miss Nessie was rescued in December of 2020.

She was trapped as a stray cat with her 3 kittens, Bonnie, Dee Dee and Freya. Together they were nicknamed the “Scottish litter” Nessie’s kittens became friendly very quickly and ended up getting adopted together not long after!

This left Nessie alone who was very scared and had not been in a home or around humans before. It took 6 weeks for Nessie to gain the courage to step out of the safety of her pen. Once she did, we discovered that her back leg was injured.

After many vet visits, we found out that it was an old injury that had not healed properly and the only option was to amputate her leg. She then went in and had her leg amputated and through the recovery process, she began to trust more and more. She even started to enjoy a pet.

Fast forward almost 4 years and Nessie was adopted by her foster carer, and has also fallen in love with ‘Fonzy’, one of her adopters’ other cats.

We do not know how her leg was injured but she is now safe, happy, and healthy. She confidently hops around on her one leg, and is often the fastest when doing zoomies!

Nessie now sleeps in the sun, cuddling with Fonzy every day. Cat Lovers Ballarat
